In a nail-biting finale, St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende, the Uganda U15 boys emerged victorious at the CAF African Schools Football Championship (CECAFA Qualifiers 2025) held at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The team defeated Ethiopia 3-1 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regulation time, securing the championship title and a spot in the continental finals.

The victory was a culmination of a phenomenal tournament, showcasing the team’s skill, determination, and tactical prowess.

The team’s success has earned them a $100,000 development grant, aimed at bolstering school football programs in Uganda.

Tanzania secured the third place and final spot in the continental finals as defendingchampions, defeating Burundi 2-0 in the third-place playoff.

The team will receive a $50,000 development grant, while Ethiopia, the runners-up, will take home $75,000.

The success of the top three nations is expected to have a lasting impact on youth football in the region, with the financial support set to enhance school football programs and nurture young talent.
