The Soroti Cricket Academy celebrated its 10th anniversary over the weekend, marking a decade of excellence in promoting cricket and empowering young lives in the region.
The academy, which has weathered numerous challenges since its inception in 2014, has achieved significant milestones, including producing notable alumni such as Janet Mbabazi, Jimia Muhammad, and Phiona Kulume.
During the celebration, the academy awarded the best performers of the 2024 season, with Janet Mbabazi and Peter Ocen winning the Soroti City player of the year awards.
The academy’s chairman, Felix Musana, reflected on the journey, expressing gratitude to parents, schools, and the Uganda Cricket Association for their support.
“Our journey to celebrate a decade of Soroti Cricket Academy has been long and challenging.
Despite obstacles, we’ve achieved our goals thanks to the support of parents, schools, and the Uganda Cricket Association.
We’re grateful for their trust and partnership. Looking ahead, we aim to become self-sustaining and develop a world-class cricket ground.

As part of the celebrations, a six-aside tournament was held, featuring eight teams, with a focus on educating participants about the effects of gender-based violence.
The academy’s vision for the next decade includes becoming self-sustaining and developing a proper cricket ground that can host international games.
