The much-anticipated 2026 Kateregga Memorial Table Tennis Open is set to take place from Friday, 27th February to Sunday, 1st March at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala.
This premier event, targeting both primary and secondary schools, as well as institutions, is poised to reignite the sport of table tennis in Uganda after a decade-long hiatus.
The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) has received a major boost for the tournament, thanks to an emphatic sponsorship of Ug. Shs 5,000,000 from School Pay, a part of the Fincom Technologies family.
School Pay’s continued support underscores their commitment to nurturing holistic development in children through sports.

This marks the second consecutive year that School Pay has supported the event, following their contribution to the Uganda Open championship in 2025.
Cyrus Mark Muwanga, President of UTTA, emphasized the importance of this tournament in uncovering new talent.
“The Kateregga Memorial Schools and Institutions tournament is an essential platform for growing the sport,” Muwanga said.
“After a 10-year hiatus, its return is a significant milestone for table tennis in Uganda. This tournament will play a key role in identifying emerging players.”
Further enhancing the event’s appeal, Legacy Productions Limited has stepped in with a sponsorship package worth Ug. Shs 40,000,000 in kind.
Their support will ensure top-tier audio-visual services, event management, lighting, power generation, and online broadcasting, bringing an international flair to the championship.
Legacy Productions’ investment promises to elevate the event’s production standards, offering an enhanced experience for both participants and spectators.
The tournament will feature competition across various categories, including primary schools, secondary schools, and universities.
In addition to serving as a stepping stone for emerging talent, the event is expected to help secondary schools fine-tune their teams in preparation for the upcoming 2026 USSSA Ball Games Two.
The winners of the competition will be awarded certificates, plaques, and trophies in recognition of their achievements.
