SC Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kitara FC in a thrilling encounter at FUFA Kadiba Stadium on Thursday evening.

The Jogoos’ new talisman Frank Ssebufu proved the hero, scoring the decisive goal midway through the second half.

Ssebufu’s lanky frame rose high as he headed home a well-placed cross, sending the home fans into raptures.

This was his first goal since joining the club at the start of the season, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, lifting SC Villa to third place on the table with ten points.

SC Villa coach Nemanja Kovacevic will be pleased with his team’s performance, particularly given the fact that they maintained the same team that started in the previous outing against Buhimba United Saints.

Kitara FC, on the other hand, suffered their second loss of the campaign, leaving them eighth on the table with seven points.

Kitara’s struggles were evident despite coach Wasswa Bossa making two changes to the team that demolished Lugazi FC 4-0.

The result sees SC Villa closing the gap on joint table leaders KCCA FC and Police FC, who both have 11 points.
