After just eight months in charge at Buddo Secondary School, tactician Hamza Lutalo has been shown exit door following unpleasant series of results.

Hamza replaced the current Police FC coach Simon Peter Mugerwa at the beginning of 2024 Schools Sports calendar.

Hamza Lutalo was sacked together Abbey Yiga, who has been the team doctor.

The soft spoken tactician was replaced by the former Mawokota and Mbale Heroes head coach Richard Malinga

Malinga joins the team with his right hand man, the former Kakungulu Memorial games teacher Fahad Walugembe aka Brazilian. The two also worked together during their stay at KCCA FC.

What went wrong

Lutalo failed to win any silver wear after losing the Nsangi zone championship to Madina Islamic in the final 5-4 in penalties after a goalless draw in the normal time.

Under Lutalo, Buddo also failed to defend the Wakiso Region championship following their 1-0 loss to holders Kitende in the final at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

The Buddo based school failed to go past the round of 32 after being disqualified from the USSSA Boys football championship in Masaka City for fielding an ineligible player.

Background

Buddo SS had regained her sporting success under Simon Peter Mugerwa who joined the Wakiso giants in 2017 who won a first trophy for the school since their 2009 Copa Coca-Cola triumph.

In 2018, Buddo won the National championship in Mbarara beating the famous 11 commandos of Blessed Sacramento Kimanya by 1-0.

Gigantic forward Frank Ssebuufu scored the only goal of the game at Kakyeka Stadium.

Mugerwa further guided Buddo to their first ever Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) trophy after their 4-3 win after penalties against Rwanda’s LDK in the 2018 final in Musanze, Rwanda.

However, Mugerwa only won the Wakiso Region championship.

They lost the semi-final to St. Mary’s Kitende 6-5 in penalties at the 2019 Copa Coca-Cola championship in Jinja before losing 1-0 to Kitende in the Arusha, Tanzania FEASSA final courtesy of the Umar Kyebatala goal.

In 2022, Buddo only won the Wakiso Region championship and lost both Copa Coca-Cola and FEASSA semi-finals to St. Andrews High School Gombe and Kibuli SS respectively.

In 2023, Buddo SS won their third consecutive Wakiso Region championship beating Kitende 2-1 in the final.

Joseph and Denis Kisiriko scored for Buddo SS while Abdu Nsereko scored for St. Mary’s Kitende.

In the Copa Coca-Cola championship, Buddo exited in the quarter-finals after losing 1-0 to Royal Giants High School Mityana in Fortportal.
