Under the theme “Autism is not a disability but a special ability” Roy Mubiru Foundation was launched over the weekend to specifically be home to Autism affected children.

The launch was held at the newly furnished Foundation home in Kasubi-Manyangwa in Kabubu Zone A (Wakiso District) on Saturday, the 2nd March 2024.

While addressing the gathering at the launch, Frank Sserugo Kaheesi the liaison media officer of the organization lauded the powerlifting athlete and founder Roy Mubiru for his generous action to the cause.

“His dream is about children affected with autism who need special attention. As we launch this home /Foundation, it’s dream coming true.

Autism is not witchcraft and there is need to sensitize masses about it.

These affected children can be normal like any other child if given special attention and taught how to live on their own”. Frank Sserugo Kaheesi.

Founded and financially supported by Roy Mubiru and his friends, the Foundation is currently home to over ten affected children.

Shamim Batte, the foundation’s Programs Manager and coordinator called upon other individuals especially sportsmen for support to this noble and project.

“I didn’t see this coming shortly but at last I’m grateful for a big dream coming true.

We believe in care and love for humanity and we encourage other individuals especially sportsmen to come in and support the children with special needs. We are grateful to whoever has come on board to give a hand for these children with Autism”. Batte remarked.

The organization is to support, sensitize, and empower the Autism affected children who need special care.

The launch was graced by the Kabubu Zone A L.C I chairman John Kintu who lauded the vision bearer and founder for the great initiative.

“I’m thankful and grateful for this foundation and I will directly be part of this journey.

Many of these children are kept in houses. These children can be like any other and by nurturing them the way they are, they can be great citizens. Kabubu Zone A L.C I chairman John Kintu.

In his absence, Roy Mubiru’s mother and father Justice Nakabugo and David Ssewakiryanga graced the launch in company of Martha Namazzi Kiyingi, a teacher for autism affected children and others Foundation staffs.
