Defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School–Zana and Wakiso Zone champions Rines Secondary School launched their campaigns at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Girls’ Football Championship in commanding fashion, registering resounding victories in Mukono.

The title holders, St. Noa, delivered a statement performance, dismantling Ijumo Progressive Secondary School 6-0 to set the tone for their title defence.

Marion Serenge emerged as the standout performer of the day, netting a superb hat-trick, while Grace Kawino, Winnie Kabugho, and Cissy Wanyenze each added a goal to complete the rout.

Rines Secondary School matched that intensity with an equally dominant display, thrashing St. Peter’s High School from Hoima 6-0.

Halima Mupyanga and Trinah Nakawuki each bagged braces, with Justine Ayerango and Zoenah Nandegho also getting on the scoresheet to seal an emphatic win for the Wakiso champions.

Kampala Zone champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School also got off to a winning start, overcoming St. Andrews Ruhindi 3-1.

Rashimy Nakagolo found the net once, while Shadia Nabirye struck twice to secure maximum points.

In another fixture, Isingiro District and Ankole Zone champions Boni Consilli proved too strong for Masaka Secondary School, cruising to a 3-0 victory.

Loyce Komugisha led the charge with a brace, and Catherine Natuhwera added the third to cap a polished performance.

Elsewhere, Moyo Star defeated Bubiita Seed Secondary School 3-1, while Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga edged Seroma Christian High School 2-0.

Bunya Secondary School impressed with a 5-1 triumph over Francis Ayume Memorial Secondary School, and Kakungulu Memorial narrowly overcame Kongunga 1-0.
