STORY BY GEOFFREY MUGABI

The Startimes Uganda Premier League resumes today with Match Day nine after the international break.

In the only game of the day, Police FC will host fellow newcomers Lugazi FC in Kavumba at 4 pm.

In their previous game before the international break, both teams registered goalless draws.

This same fixture ended in a 1-1 draw last season in the Big League, with Abdul Kalanzi securing a point for the visitors at the death, cancelling out Isaac Ogwang’s goal.

Police FC drew three consecutive home games before registering their first victory over Mbale Heroes, and they will be hunting for their second home victory this season this evening.

For Lugazi FC, they have collected four points from the last two games, and scoring goals has been their weakness.

Speaking to the media, Lugazi FC assistant coach Oliver Mbekeka is aware of a tough game.

We are very much prepared. We are here to compete, and our target is maximum points, which I am sure we are going to get. We have prepared our players on how to handle the game.” She said.

She acknowledged the strength of Police FC, saying,

“We know Police is strong in each department, but we have put out strategies to overcome them.”

Any victory for Lugazi will take them to 6th place with the same points (12) as BUL and Express, who are fourth and fifth, respectively.

For Police FC, a win will propel Mugerwa’s side to 4th place with 14 points.

Lugazi have no injuries, while Police FC will miss Daniel Otto, Bojo Adewale, and James Brian Obedi, but Reagan Male returns from injury.
