St. Lawrence University has finished top of Group D following a 4-1 victory over YMCA as the group stage games of the 2022 Pepsi University Football League climaxed.

In a game played at Crown City Campus, Kavule Playground on Sunday, Dennis Kalanzi bagged a hattrick while Bruno Bunyaga added another.

Meanwhile, Benon Kigenyi scored YMCA’s consolation as SLAU took its points tally to 11 and through to the knockout stage of the competition.

Mbarara University of Science and Technology against Makerere University was the other game played on the same day in Mbarara and it ended 3-1 in favor of Makerere.

The victory took Makerere’s tally to nine points and in the second position but not enough for them to reach the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, YMCA finished third on eight points while MUST gathered a single point at the bottom of the group.

SLAU joins defending champions Uganda Christian University, Makerere University Business School, Kyambogo University, Uganda Martyrs University, and Nkumba University in the knockout stage.
