FT: Uganda Martyrs 3-1 Bugema

The Pepsi University football league reigning champions Uganda Martyrs University, Nkonzi have embarked on their title defence journey with a convincing 3-1 win over Bugema University in this season’s open.

The great entertainment was held at Uganda Martyrs University Grounds in Nkozi on Tuesday, the 12th September.

Ivan Agambire and Akbar Ssentongo were on target for the Martyrs whilst Dennis Kimuli scored a consolation for the visitors Bugema.

Uganda Martyrs through Ivan Agambire earned a sweet lead 37 minutes into the game to end the first stanza 1-0 in favor of the host.

One minute into the second half, Ssentongo Akbar scored the second for the defending champions before he completed his brace in the 82nd minute to make a 3-0 score.

Dennis Kimuli later in the fourth (4th) added minute grabbed a consolation for Bugema to end the tie in a 3-1 win for Uganda Martyrs.

This is the 11th edition of the University football league. Uganda Martyrs are the defending champions.

The league returns tomorrow with one fixture between two giants St. Lawrence University and Nkumba University.

The mouthwatering tie will be held at Kavule Grounds at 4pm.
