In a thrilling encounter, debutants Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) held the University of Kisubi (UNIK) to a 0-0 draw in their first-ever Pepsi University Football League match.

Despite being newcomers, MMU showed remarkable resilience and determination, putting up a spirited fight to earn a point away from home.

The hosts, UNIK, had the brighter start, creating half chances in the opening exchanges.

However, their forwards failed to capitalize on these opportunities, leaving MMU’s goal intact.

The visitors’ defense, marshaled by their goalkeeper, stood firm against UNIK’s attacks.

Although MMU piled on the pressure in the second half, UNIK’s goalkeeper Amos Kizito made several crucial saves to deny the visitors a winning goal.

Kizito’s heroics ensured that the home side avoided defeat in front of their fans.

The result leaves both teams optimistic as they begin their Group A journey, which also features defending champions Uganda Martyrs University and two-time winners Kampala University.

Both UMU and KU played out goalless draws in their league opener last Thursday at Nakivubo.

Action in the Pepsi University Football League continues on Sunday with Kampala International University taking on Mbarara University of Science and Technology at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. The match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams looking to make a statement in the league.
