Kanyanya Playground in Kawempe will be the focal point of SC Villa’s unfolding presidential race this Saturday as aspirant Farouq Meywa stages a high-profile engagement with fans in Kampala.

The event, designed as both a manifesto launch and a community celebration, will see Meywa address Villa faithful from the Kampala region, outlining his vision for the Uganda Premier League record champions.

A press briefing is scheduled at the playground, where the candidate is expected to articulate his priorities for the 17-time league winners ahead of the forthcoming executive committee elections.

Adding a festive dimension to the occasion, the programme includes a friendly match between Kazo/Kawempe Managers and Uganda Cranes legends.

The exhibition fixture is intended to draw supporters together while underscoring the campaign’s grassroots outreach theme.

Meywa is also set to donate jerseys, footballs and assorted prizes to selected teams during the Kanyanya gathering, reinforcing his message of revitalising the club’s connection with its community base.

The Kanyanya engagement comes as SC Villa prepares for fresh polls following the expiry of the current administration’s term under president Omar Mandela.

Momentum in the electoral process is expected to build further on March 1, 2026, when the club unveils its official election roadmap at East High School — an event that will also facilitate the registration of new fans.

As anticipation grows around the leadership transition, Saturday’s showcase in Kanyanya is poised to offer an early glimpse into how candidates intend to steer one of Uganda’s most decorated football institutions into its next chapter.
