Kyambogo University extended their perfect start to the Pepsi University Football League with a narrow 1-0 win over Busitema University.

The 2018 champions capitalized on a rare moment of brilliance in a largely uninspiring match, thanks to Owori Samuel’s decisive header in the 41st minute.

Kyambogo’s head coach, Christopher Lobo, praised his team’s fighting spirit but acknowledged the need for improvement.

“It wasn’t a beautiful game to watch, but the boys showed determination.

We need to improve our build-up play and decision-making in the final third,” Lobo said.

Busitema’s coach, Abdul Noor Musisi, attributed the loss to missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

“We lost concentration at a crucial moment, and that cost us. We’ll go back and fix our mistakes ahead of the next game,” Musisi noted.

The result sees Kyambogo leading Group C with six points, while Busitema has one point after two games.

The league continues on Wednesday, with King Ceasor University hosting Uganda Christian University at the Yes Centre, Nsambya.
