Kampala University advanced to the semifinals of the Pepsi University Football League after a tense 0-0 draw against Bugema University at FUFA Stadium Kadiba on Monday, progressing via the away goals rule.

With the aggregate score tied at 1-1 following the first leg in Bugema, the “Flying Eagles” capitalized on their crucial away goal to seal qualification, exacting revenge for last season’s quarterfinal exit to the same opponents.

Kampala University controlled much of the contest, asserting dominance through structured buildup, sharp passing, and sustained possession. However, their superiority lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Midfielder Mark Ebong orchestrated much of the attacking play, carving open Bugema’s defense with precision. He created multiple openings, including a 21st-minute delivery that narrowly evaded both Wanuume Gilbert and Kiweewa Raymond, while Nsubuga later squandered a clear chance from his setup.

Despite late pressure from Bugema, Kampala University remained compact and disciplined defensively to preserve the stalemate.

The result sends Kampala University into the last four as they chase a third league crown, adding to their 2013 and 2016 triumphs, while attention shifts to the remaining quarterfinal fixtures.
