Kampala University (KU) reignited their Pepsi University Football League campaign with a resounding 3-1 victory over Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) at St. Leo’s Kyegobe Stadium in Fort Portal. The two-time champions showcased attacking flair and composure, overwhelming the home side.

KU took the lead in the 5th minute through Kiweewa Raymond’s classy left-footed finish. Despite MMU’s late first-half pressure, KU’s defense held strong, and several MMU attempts went off target.

After the break, MMU intensified their attack, with Aheebwa David rattling the crossbar in the 47th minute.

However, KU’s persistence paid off in the 70th minute when Gilbert Wanume slotted home a well-timed low cross from Mulwana Joel.

Substitute Kimera Joseph sealed the win with a beautifully curled free kick in the 86th minute.

MMU grabbed a late consolation in stoppage time through Aheebwa David’s low free kick.

Nevertheless, KU’s victory was never in doubt, lifting them to four points and level with Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and defending champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) at the top of their group.

The league continues on Tuesday with a thrilling match between 2018 champions Kyambogo University and Busitema University.
