The 2025 Kabaka Cup edition commenced on March 12th, with over 70 matches played across six different venues.

Kyaddondo SS emerged as the standout performers on day one, winning both their fixtures in convincing fashion.

The Matugga-Kiryagonja-based side scored a record nine goals, the highest on day one, and conceded only one, earning them maximum six points and top spot in Group H.

In their opening match, Kyaddondo SS triumphed 4-0 over Buziga Islamic, with Ivan Magezi and Arsene Junior Odonga each scoring a brace.

They followed this up with a 5-1 victory over Lake View Kitinda, courtesy of goals from Joseph Kabila (2), Bashir Edema, Joseph Kakooza, and A. Odinga.

Hosts Kawanda SS also made a perfect start, winning 2-0 against Lake View Kitinda SS. Henry Lutaya and Jorido Nansasira (OG) scored the goals that gave Kawanda a flying start.

In their second match, Kawanda eased past Buziga Islamic with a 0-3 victory, thanks to goals from Smith Luyima, Ronin Ssekidde, and Henry Lutaya.

St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende also secured a convincing 4-1 win over St. Mbuga Vocational in their opening match.

Isaac Tibenkana scored a hat-trick, while Farouk Tumwesigye netted one for St. Mary’s-Kitende. Canan Muwanguzi scored the consolation goal for St. Mbuga Vocational.

Buddo SS, who drew 0-0 with Kawempe Royal College Bulaga in their opener, bounced back to win 3-0 against Ndejje SS Lubugumu.

Martin Batte, Ibrahim Musoke, and Owen Mukisa were on target for Buddo SS.

This year’s Kabaka Cup edition features 40 boys’ football teams divided into 10 groups.

The five-day championship, which began on March 12th, will conclude on Sunday, March 16th, at Kawanda Secondary School.

The official opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 13th, with a high-profile all-Islamic affair tie between hosts Kawanda SS and Kyadondo.
