Newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Calvary FC has appointed Jimmy Kintu Mwera as their new head coach, according to reliable sources at the club.

Kintu has signed a two-year employment contract, committing him to the club until 2027.

Kintu boasts an impressive track record in Ugandan football, having guided St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana and St. Noa GFC to numerous titles.

The team also won the CECAFA CAF Schools championship before losing to host Ghana in the Continental finals to settle for a silver.

Under his leadership, St. Noa GFC gained promotion to the FUFA Women Super League unbeaten, winning 11 matches and drawing twice, while conceding only once in the entire season.

Kintu also led St. Noa GFC to their first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup semi-finals and has won a record five trophies this year, including the USSSA Elite, Aggrey Zone, Wakiso District, and National championships for the school, as well as the FUFA Women Elite League trophy.

Kintu’s experience extends beyond St. Noa, having worked with Kyetume FC, Uganda Christian University, and Kyaggwe in the Masaza Cup tournament.

His impressive resume makes him an ideal candidate to lead Calvary FC in the Uganda Premier League.

Calvary FC earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League after winning the 2024-25 FUFA Big League title, finishing the season on top of the table with 52 points.

The team also produced the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season, Lawrence Olaboro.

With Kintu at the helm, Calvary FC is poised to embark on a new chapter in their history.

The team’s promotion to the Uganda Premier League presents an exciting opportunity for the club to make a mark in the top-flight league, and Kintu’s experience and expertise will be crucial in guiding the team to success.
