Uganda’s women football finest Kawempe Muslim Ladies registered a hard fought slim 2-1 win against UCU Lady Cardinals to reach the quarter-final stage of the of the FUFA Women Cup.

The highly contested tie between the two historical Uganda women football giants was held on Sunday, 19th March 2023 at the deadly Valley grounds in Kawempe.

Coming from the bench to replace Nakato, Allen Nassazi was the day’s shining star with a brace to shoulder Kawempe past a resilient UCU Lady Cardinals.

Sharon Naddunga put her former employers to swords with a first half strike to send visitors to a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute which also served as the half time break score.

Early into the second stanza, custodian Hadijjah Nalongo’s heroic hand denied a would be second goal for Kawempe Muslim Ladies when she stopped Shakira Nyinagahirwa to convert from the penalty mark in the 52nd minute.

This became Nalongo’s third penalty save this season after her second magic penalty save to deny Hadijjah Nandago.

Through the young dynamic forward Allen Nassazi, Kawempe Muslim Ladies equalized in 56 minutes of play before she sealed the win with a beauty later in the 71st .

Elsewhere, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga eased past She Game in a 2-0 victory.

Latifa Nakasi and Rebecca Nandhego scored a goal each in either halves in 33rd and 46th minutes to seal the win.

In this game, Uganda Martyrs’ goalie prospect Brenda Kasana made her debut when she came on as Sharon Kaidu’s replacement in the final 15 minutes of the game.

One of the day’s shock result was Rines’ exit at the expense of She Maroons at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

She Maroons won 5-4 after penalties following a 2-all draw in the normal time.

Eve Nagayi sent Rines into the lead in the early period of the game as both sides went to settld for a 1-0 half time break.

Just 12 minutes into the second period, Maroons through Anita Babirye equalized before a Winnie Kyomugisha strike earned them a 2-1 lead at 73 minutes.

In the final four minutes of the game, Jesca Namaganda equalized for Rines through a well converted penalty to end the game 2-2.

However, Jesca Namaganda couldn’t  convert her spot to give Maroons a 5-4 victory after penalties.

Reigning FUFA Women Super league champions She Corporates have had their journey see a heart breaking end after a 4-3 penalty loss to East giants Olila.

Both sides played to a goalless normal time draw. Former Olila solid midfielder Cissy Nantongo missed She Corporates’ penalty.
