The transfer window has kicked off, and Uganda’s women’s football scene is abuzz with activity.

Several players and coaches are switching teams, seeking better opportunities or more playing time.

However, one player’s situation has garnered significant attention: Crested Cranes’ Nakasi Latifah, the prolific striker and 2024/25 FUFA Women Cup top scorer, is embroiled in a dispute with her current club, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga WFC.

A Complex Situation
According to sources, Nakasi wanted to leave Lubaga before the start of the last season, with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC being her desired destination.

However, her bosses allegedly halted the move, citing a need for her services for at least one season.

The club reportedly wanted her to join Kampala Queens FC instead, due to a better offer.

Now, with Nakasi’s contract situation unclear, the two top clubs in the country are vying for her signature.

Contract Dispute
Nakasi’s camp claims that the player was not consulted about her contract renewal, which they believe still has only one year left.

They also allege that the club refused to share an original copy of the contract with Nakasi, leaving her in the dark about its terms.

In response, the club’s CEO, Ayerango Freda, denies these claims, stating that Nakasi misplaced her contract copy and that some elements in women’s football are misguiding her.

Potential Consequences
If the two parties fail to settle their dispute, the matter may be taken to FUFA for resolution.

The outcome of this situation will likely have significant implications for Nakasi’s future and the clubs involved.

With the Finance Trust Women Super League set to kick off, the drama surrounding Nakasi’s transfer is sure to continue.
