Uganda is set to face neighbors DR Congo in B opener of the 2023 Total Energies African Nations Championship this evening at Stade 19th May 1956.

Uganda Cranes target a perfect start at this year’s African Nations CHAN (CHAN) on a brilliant note as they face Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday in order to break their group stage curse exits at the tournament.

This will be Uganda’s sixth successive appearance at the championship. This means the Cranes only missed the 2009 inaugural tournament.

However, the Cranes have failed to make it out of the group stages on all occasions.

Uganda Crane’s head  coach Micho reacts with much hope ahead of the tournament as stated below.

“After three weeks of preparations, it is now time to deliver and do better than before. The players are in the right shape and we hope victory will come our way on Saturday.” He stated.

“Every game in the Group in crucial but to win the first game is important. It helps boost confidence going into the next games.”

The team, under the stewardship of coach Micho Multin Sredjovic, have had a training camp for the tournament in Tunisia where they played three games all ending in draws against Sudan (2-2), Cameroon (1-1) and Mali (0-0).

Uganda is in the same group with Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Ivory Coast.
