Masaza Cup Saturday action was in the great Buganda Islands of Buvuma and Ssese as we marked the beginning of this year’s reverse fixtures.

On Saturday, the 10th August Masengere Group leaders Kabula were onto the ferry to Lutoboka the home of Ssese where they won 3-1 against the Islanders.

Mamur Irivai scored a hat-trick for Kabula whilst Omar Diara was on score sheet for Ssese. The win pushed Kabula to 13 points in six outings.

Kabula was without three key suspended players Murushid Babugi and John Andrew Obwanaon the trip.

In the first round Kabula hosted and defeated Ssese 2-0.  Their first round fine form kept them unbeaten through first 5 games.

On host’s side it is a had season so far having accumulated only three points after losing 3 and drawn 3 games in now six attempts.

Also in the same group at Magyo, Buvuma faced a1-0 defeat against the struggling Busiro just 7 days after their last meeting.

Conrad Ssenjogera scored the only goal in the game as Busiro grabbed their first win of the season.

Buvuma beat Busiro 2-0 to register their only win of the campaign in the first round.

The 1-0 defeat to Busiro became their (Buvuma) first lost of the campaign.

With four wins, a draw and a loss, Kabula lead Masengere Group with thirteen (13) points.

In the second place is Busujju on nine (9) points. Busujju have won twice and drawn thrice.

Meanwhile, Buvuma has only registered one win and four draws to accumulate seven points in the 3rd place.

The whole weekend will have 9 fixtures with all teams in action.

After yesterday’s duels, action returns this Sunday with seven games on different grounds.
