BUL FC ended their five-match winless streak in thrilling fashion, defeating Lugazi FC 2-1 at Najjembe thanks to Isaac Wagoina’s injury-time winner.

The victory relieved pressure on head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko and lifted BUL to seventh place in the standings.

Wagoina, an unexpected starter, repaid Kikomeko’s faith with a brace.

His first goal came in the 22nd minute when he capitalized on Lugazi captain Richard Ayiko’s defensive mistake, pouncing on Ibrahim Orit’s cross to score. Lugazi equalized in the 37th minute through Abdul Kalanzi’s free-kick, which sailed past BUL’s defense and left goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa stunned.

The match seemed destined for a draw until Wagoina struck again in stoppage time.

Najib Fessali’s header from a Jerome Kirya free-kick found Wagoina perfectly positioned for a decisive tap-in, breaking Lugazi’s resilient defense.

Earlier, Lugazi goalkeeper Fahad Emuran made a crucial save to deny Fahad Bayo in a one-on-one situation, while Orit squandered a golden opportunity by firing wide from inside the box.

The win brings much-needed relief for Kikomeko, with BUL now sitting seventh with 19 points from 14 games.

Lugazi, coached by Steven Bogere, remain perilously close to the relegation zone, three points above the drop after the same number of games.
