Buddu unveils 26 man squad for 2024 Airtel Masaza Cup tournament

The 2016 and 2021 Masaza Cup champions Buddu have today Sunday, the 23rd June 2024 unveiled their season squad for this year’s edition.

The unveiling was officiated by Pokino (Buddu Ssaza chief) Jude Muleke. In attendance was for Ssingo chief Muwenda Mbalire and other dignitaries.

Unveiled at Kitovu Sports Arena with a test match against a selected for Buddu players under the captainship of Ivan Sserubiri, they will face Butambala this weekend in their season opener.

The 26 man squad comprises of legendary Malida Kuteesa. However, the team also has five players who are set to feature at the tournament for the first time.

These include Latif Lubega, Derrick Munanira, Francis Ndahura, Patrick Musinguzi and Kevin Otim.

The other squad members carry a host of experiences in the tournament that will steer the team to its title ambitions.

They Ronald Turyamusiima, Patrick Ssekyanzi, Joseph Kayondo, Pius Ssebulime, Martin Nsubuga, Herbert Ononelaki, Shafik Ssali, Michael Walaga, Jamir Omongin, Benson Okeera, Aiman Twaha Ature, Hadson Mbalire, AbuBaker Egesa, Malida Kuteesa, Aniwar Katende, Hamza Kalibwami, Tigan Kirumira, Owen Musongoza, Marvin Ssebirago Ssali, Salim Ssekamwa and Augustine Lubega Jr.

The team will be captained by Pius Ssebulime. His first assistant is……and ….is the second assistant.

Simon Ddungu “aka”  Dunga is the head coach. Dunga will work with Isma Mujjuzi Ndawula, former URA FC player Sam Ssekito as his first and second assistant.

Ashadu Bugembe and St. Henry’s College – Kitovu’s Ronald Komakech will serve under the goalkeeping department.

Buddu will open their title chase this season on Saturday, the 29th June on road to Kibibi to face host Butambala.
