FT: UMU 2-0 Muni

Former champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) commenced their 2024/25 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) season on a strong note defeating Muni University 2-0 in Nkozi on Thursday.

Second half goals from Joseph Kayondo and Akbal Ssentongo handed the two-champions a winning start.

Kayondo scored direct from a free-kick in the 50^th minute whereas Ssentongo capitalised on an error by Muni’s Iddi Abdu to double UMU’s advantage in the 80^th minute.

The 2017 and 2022 winners now lead Group E with three points. Group E also has the International University of East Africa (IUEA) and the University of Kisubi (UNIK).

Two-time champions Kampala University will host Kampala International University (KIU) in Group D in Kibuli on Friday at 3pm.
