SC Villa president Hajji Omar Mandela vows his side can win the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League title to break a long time curse.

“We can do this next season. We have shown that we can compete, so why shouldn’t we do it again next season?”. He said.

Hajji Omar Mandela further vowed to break the bank and support SC Villa and Jogoos until they win Uganda Premier League next season after coming short in the just concluded campaign.

“As a club we have picked up many lessons and now we have much confidence especially gained by the young players and I think we can build on it”, Mandela added.

Under Sam Timbe, the URA Football Club’s current head coach, SC Villa won their last Uganda Premier League title in 2004.

SC Villa was nowhere near the predictions for who would be potential champions at the beginning of the season. However, they went from strength to strength over the course of the season.

The Jogoos are record Uganda (16) champions, three (3) more than City rivals KCCA FC who have been dominant in the last ten years.

The sixteen (16) time champions finished 3rd after their 1-0 defeat to URA FC. SC Villa had 52 point behind winners Vipers SC and KCCA FC who were tied on 53 points.
