USSSA Fresh Diary Games: St. Noa Girls-Zana, Kitende meet in Wakiso district basketball final

St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana and St. Mary’s Kitende will face off in the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Fresh Diary Games basketball finals of Wakiso district/region 20233 qualifiers.

The famous Entebbe road/Wakiso derby came after the two giants reached this year’s district/regional qualifiers finals after their respective triumph in the semi-final stage.

Giants St. Mary’s Kitende topped group A comprising of host Kisubi Mapeera, Trinity College Nabbingo and St. Peter’s Naalya to advance to quarter-finals.

In the quarter-final, Kitende eliminated sleeping giants Exodus College, Wakiso before they staged a spirited fight to register a slim 32-28 win against old rivals Buddo SS.

 

The 2019 Wakiso district/region champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana topped group B.

The group comprised of Buddo SS, Elite High School, Hope SS Bira and King’s College Buddo.

In the quarter-final, St. Noa beat Watoto by 42-22 to storm regional consecutive final since 2019.

The Zana based side outclassed Trinity College Nabbingo in a landslide 36-6 semi-final to book date with St. Mary’s Secondary Boarding school.

This will be the third consecutive Wakiso district/region final between the two sides. Kitende have come out victorious on one occasion coming in 2021.

St. Mary’s came three quarters down to dethrone the 2019 champions St. Noa by 58-51 final clash at WAKISHA headquarters in Wakiso City.
