The Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa have elevated their surviving relegation following a 2-1 win against Mbarara City at Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru on Tuesday.

Second half goals from Isaac Ogwang and Saddam Masereka were enough for SC Villa to register three points while Solomon Okwalinga scored Mbarara City’s only goal.

Ogwang put SC Villa in the driving seat by tapping home a low cross from Masereka in the 47th minute.

Two minutes later, Masereka made it 2-1 with a low shot at the near post.

Ten minutes to full time, substitute Davis Sekagya handled in the area and Mbarara City were awarded a penalty. Okwalinga stepped up and sent Ssenkooto the wrong way.

The win left SC Villa 10th with 28 points while Mbarara City stay 15th with 21 points.
