Wakiso Giants have put their winless streak in the league to an end with a 3-1 victory over Mbarara City in a league game held at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium on Wednesday evening.

A goal each from Sam Ssenyonjo, Titus Ssematimba and substitute Ivan Bogere ensured that the Sharks bagged all the three important points on the day.

Charles Sempa scored the only goal for Mbarara City as they suffered defeat on the road.

Ssenyonjo put Wakiso Giants ahead in the 20th minute, heading in home off a well delivered corner from Joshua Lubwama.

Four minutes later, the former KCCA FC forward had a chance to double his side’s lead but he missed from the spot from a controversially awarded penalty.

Mbarara City returned a more rejuvenated side in the second half and it paid off through substitute Sempa, who scored from the spot.

In the 73rd minute, Ssematimba made it 2-1, heading in home off a well delivered corner from substitute Tom Masiko.

Ten minutes later, Bogere sent a long range effort that beat goalkeeper Martin Elungat, who was off his lines to make it 3-1.

Wakiso Giants has now moved to 30 points in the 7th position after 20 games played while Mbarara City is now second from bottom with just 17 points and haven’t won since December.
