SUPL: Vipers cruise past UPDF FC to move on the top of the table

Vipers SC have temporarily moved top of the log after their dominant 7-2 win against UPDF at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Ceaser Mazonki scored a double while Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, Bright Anukani, debutant Emmanuel Munoobi and Bobosi Byaruhanga scored the other goals for the hosts.

Sabir Yusuf and Salim Huud scored the army side’s consolation goals on the day.

Following a win, Vipers moved to 29 points, one better than second placed KCCA whose game in Arua didn’t end.

UPDF stay seventh with 18 points from 13 games played so far.

At Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru, goals from Salim Abdallah, Nicholas Kabonge, Benson Muhindo and Goffin Oyirowth saw SC Villa beat Tooro United 4-0.

It was the first time the Jogoos were winning back to back and climbed to ninth with 15 points as Tooro United who had Andrew Kagogwe sent off stay rock bottom with four points.

Meanwhile, a thrilling match between Onduparaka and KCCA didn’t end as home fans protested a late penalty awarded to the visitors.

Rashid Okocha and Muhammad Shaban had scored for the hosts while Arafat Usama and Sadat Anaku had ensured the game was tied at 2-2.

Referee Ronald Madanda who awarded what was a contested penalty that led to Onduparaka’s equaliser at the stroke of half time then faced the wrath of home fans when he turned the favour late on for the Kasasiro.

They invaded the pitch and refused to play to continue and the match was abandoned.

It remains to be seen which decision will be taken by the Fufa relevant bodies.
