FUFA Big League: Kitara, MYDA kick off with victories

The 2021-2022 StarTimes FUFA Big League kicked off on Friday November 12th 2021 with four matches across the country.

There were two victories for former StarTimes Uganda Premier League clubs that is Kitara and MYDA.

Kitara rallied from two goals down to overcome visiting Black Power 3-2 at the Masindi Municipal Stadium.

Richard Enjama, Edison Agondeze and Patrick Mugume netted for Kitara to cancel Joel Gerald’s earlier two goals for the visitors.

“We had a difficult match because of the late preparations. We were two goals down at some stage but I told the players not to lose focus and we made it,” Kitara FC head coach Richard Makumbi said.

MYDA on the other hand recorded a 3-2 home win over Ndejje University at the King George IV Memorial Stadium in Tororo.

Former Uganda Cranes striker Geofrey Sserunkuma scored two penalties for MYDA and Ivan Orono added the other for the home side.

Jimmy Wasswa Nsaale and Josephat Ayebare were on target for Ndejje University.

“We are building the team and every game remains like a cup final for us,” MYDA head coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula revealed.

Meanwhile, there were two goal-less draws recorded on the day.

Maroons and Calvary shared the spoils at the Prisons Stadium, Luzira whilst the same result was registered in Mbarara at the Kakyeka Stadium where two former top flight sides Nyamityobora and Proline squared off.

The league resumes on Sunday, 14th November 2021 with a single game when Kyetume hosts Luwero United at the Nakisunga playground in Mukono District.
