Agnes Nabukenya has added another major individual honour to her breakthrough campaign after being named the Real Stars Footballer of the Month for August.
The 18-year-old Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC midfielder was recognised on Tuesday at Naijing Hotel in Kololo, following a month in which she played a defining role in her club’s success on the continental stage.
Nabukenya was instrumental in Kawempe Muslim’s triumph at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers in Rwanda, scoring four goals in four matches.
Her most telling contribution came in the final, where she scored the decisive goal as Kawempe Muslim edged Kenya Police Bullets 1-0 after extra time to lift the regional title.
Her performances earned her the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award and now a second major individual accolade, as she saw off competition from KCCA FC’s Said Mayanja and NEC FC’s Richard Basangwa to claim the August Real Stars prize.
“I am happy that I have won. Among those who played better last month, I was chosen as the best. I am also happy that we won the CECAFA championship,” Nabukenya said.
She attributed Kawempe Muslim’s success in Rwanda to collective effort and determination, while setting an ambitious target ahead of the club’s maiden appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.
“It was endurance, hard work and teamwork that helped us win.
About the Champions League, our aim is to win and compete.
We are not going there for a visit but to compete and to win, just like we went to Rwanda to win, and we did,” she added.
Nabukenya has steadily emerged as one of the most promising young talents at Kawempe Muslim since joining the club in 2022.
Her influence has extended beyond the senior side, having also made a mark with the school team, and her latest recognition comes as Kawempe Muslim intensifies preparations for the continental showpiece.
The August Real Stars Awards also celebrated excellence in other sporting disciplines.
UCU Lady Canons forward Matrina Anyango was named the women’s basketball winner after helping the university side secure the 2026 Women’s Basketball League title.
Nam Blazers’ Fataki Nyembo Franck claimed the men’s basketball award.
Meanwhile, Kawempe Muslim SS and Ladies FC head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Ugandan sport.
Kiyingi becomes the latest recipient of the prestigious honour after former FIFA referee Catherine Adipo was recognised in the previous edition.
