St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde survived a late fightback from fellow Ugandan side Amus College to book their place in the Boys’ Basketball 5X5 final at the 2026 FEASSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Kyabakadde prevailed 90-85 in a thrilling semi-final played Friday at the Highlands Sports Complex, setting up a championship showdown with defending champions ITS Kigali on Saturday.
The Mukono-based side established control early, taking the opening quarter 22-13 before extending their advantage with a 26-21 second-quarter performance to head into the break 48-34 ahead.
Kyabakadde maintained their grip on the contest in the third quarter, edging Amus College 17-16 to carry a commanding 65-50 lead into the final period.
However, Amus refused to surrender.
Led by a game-high 36 points from Denli, they produced an aggressive fourth-quarter surge, outscoring Kyabakadde 35-25 and cutting the deficit to just five points.
Mannaseh, Garang and Dhieu also made important contributions, but their comeback ultimately fell short.
Kyabakadde captain Ichut Agok led his side with 20 points, while Chol Thon Gulani Amani, Daudi Gorge and Charles Chol added valuable contributions.
Kyabakadde were further strengthened by the return of head coach John Omondi, who had been away on national duty with Uganda’s U-18 team in West Africa.
The victory sends Kyabakadde into Saturday’s final, where they will face FEASSA defending champions ITS Kigali, with the basketball championship and the 23rd edition of the Games concluding on the same day.
