St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School–Kitende held their nerve to defeat Buddo Secondary School 27–26 and successfully defend the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Wakiso District Netball title in a pulsating, high-quality final staged in Mwererwe on Friday, 20th June.

The contest lived up to its billing as a clash of giants, with neither side willing to concede ground.

After a fiercely contested regulation period that ended 18–18, the match required extra time to separate the two evenly matched rivals.

Kitende ultimately found the decisive edge, sealing a narrow yet hard-earned 27–26 victory.

The result adds another compelling chapter to one of the most balanced rivalries in school netball.

Across their last six meetings, including this final, the two sides are now level with three wins apiece, underlining the fine margins that continue to define their encounters.

Buddo had drawn first blood in this recent sequence, overcoming Kitende 29–27 on 18th July to clinch the USSSA National Netball title in Tororo.

Kitende responded emphatically later that year, dismantling Buddo 46–30 in the 2025 FEASSA Games final in Kakamega.

The pendulum swung again on 1st March 2026, when Buddo secured a 35–31 victory to lift the USSSA Elite Games Netball title at Janan Schools, Bombo.

However, Kitende quickly exacted revenge, edging Buddo 26–24 in the 2026 National Novices final at Lubiri Secondary School just a week later.

Buddo would once more assert themselves on 28th March, eliminating Kitende with a 16–13 semi-final win at the Netball Uganda National Rally Championship in Kaddugala.

Yet, in Mwererwe, it was Kitende who delivered the final statement, reclaiming superiority at the district level with a victory defined by resilience and composure.

On their route to the title, Kitende displayed commanding form, sweeping aside Kajjansi Progressive 34–18 in the quarter-finals before overcoming St. Noa Girls Secondary School–Zana 26–22 in the semi-finals.

Buddo’s journey was equally impressive. They edged Greenlight Islamic Secondary School–Nansana 21–18 in the quarter-finals and followed it up with a composed 22–18 victory over Kawanda Secondary School in the semi-finals.

Despite the narrow defeat, both finalists, alongside St. Noa, Kawanda, Greenlight Islamic, Kisozi High School, Light College Katikamu, and Kajjansi Progressive, secured qualification to represent Wakiso District at the national championships due to 8th to 19th July at Sacred Heart in Gulu.
