Defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School–Zana delivered a composed and commanding performance to brush aside Latifah Mixed Secondary School 3-0 in the quarter-finals, securing their place in the last four of the ongoing Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Girls Football Championship in Mukono.
St. Noa asserted early control, with Dorah Nangobi reacting quickest to a loose clearance from a Faith Nalwadda corner to open the scoring.
Grace Kawino calmly doubled the advantage from the penalty spot before substitute Teddy Namata applied the finishing touch with a late strike to seal an emphatic victory.
The triumph sets up a highly anticipated semi-final clash between St. Noa and Boni Concili, who edged Jinja Progressive through in dramatic fashion. Boni Concili overcame their opponents 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.
Forward Rinah Ariho converted from the spot to cancel out Flavia Yahala’s first-minute opener in a tightly contested encounter.
In the day’s headline fixture, Rines Secondary School stunned record champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, prevailing 4-3 in a tense penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regulation time.
Elsewhere, the final quarter-final tie lived up to its billing as a fiercely contested Teso Zone derby between Bukedea Comprehensive and Amus College School. Faith Akol proved the difference-maker, netting a clinical 49th-minute winner to hand Amus College a narrow but decisive victory.
Amus College will now face an in-form Rines Secondary School in what promises to be another gripping semi-final showdown.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday, 6th May, at Uganda Christian University (UCU) grounds in Mukono.
