The race for the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup has taken a decisive turn following Thursday morning’s semi-final draw held at Umoja House in Nakasero, setting up two compelling ties featuring some of Uganda’s most decorated clubs.
Record holders SC Villa will lock horns with URA FC in a clash steeped in pedigree and history.
The Tax Collectors will host the first leg before Villa—nine-time champions—welcome them for the decisive return fixture.
Villa are chasing a landmark title to further cement their legacy, while URA, four-time winners, are aiming to reclaim the crown they last lifted in 2014 after edging KCCA FC on penalties.
Both sides navigated contrasting routes to the last four. URA staged a spirited comeback to eliminate KCCA FC in the quarter-finals, whereas Villa progressed with authority after dispatching Happy Boyz Kagaba.
In the other semi-final, reigning champions Vipers SC will face Kitara FC in a tie that blends recent dominance with rising ambition. Vipers, four-time winners and current holders, will begin their defence away at Kitara before hosting the return leg.
The Venoms advanced after seeing off NEC FC, while Kitara continued their impressive run by knocking out Express FC.
Kitara, champions as recently as 2024, will be eager to upset the holders and underline their growing stature on the domestic scene.
Both semi-final ties will be contested over two legs, with aggregate winners progressing to the final. The first legs are scheduled for May 1–3, with the return fixtures set for May 15–17.
