Finance Trust Bank Women’s Super League reigning champions Kampala Queens produced a composed and clinical display to secure a 2-0 victory over Uganda Martyrs Women Football Club at St. Gerald’s Stadium in Lubaga.

Played on a cold Saturday morning on a soggy surface, Kampala Queens found their rhythm early and capitalized on key moments through forward Peace Muduwa and Joanita Ainembabazi.

The visitors made a dream start, breaking the deadlock in the 18th minute courtesy of a stunning strike from Peace Muduwa, leaving goalkeeper Joan Namusisi with no chance.

Kampala Queens maintained control for large spells and eventually doubled their advantage in the 69th minute, when Joanita Ainembabazi found the back of the net to seal a comfortable 2-0 victory.

The win lifts Kampala Queens to 31 points in third place, seven behind second-placed She Corporate and eight adrift of table leaders Kawempe Muslim, who sit on 39 points.

In other matches, Kawempe Muslim staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat hosts Amus College 2-1, overturning an early setback after Doreen Awujat’s fifth-minute opener.

Jovia Nakagolo’s late heroics proved decisive in the closing stages.

Meanwhile, She Corporate edged Makerere University 2-1 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru to keep pace in the title race.
