URA finally brought their frustrating nine-game winless streak to an end with a composed 2–0 victory over Mbarara City in a Uganda Premier League clash at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Wednesday evening.

The Tax Collectors had endured a difficult run consisting of five defeats and four draws, but they delivered a determined performance to secure all three points despite challenging weather conditions.

Heavy rain repeatedly disrupted the contest, leaving the turf waterlogged and forcing a brief stoppage ten minutes into the second half as officials deemed the pitch temporarily unplayable.

URA’s breakthrough arrived in the 35th minute when Ronald Otti produced a clinical finish after connecting with Dissan Galiwango’s inviting delivery into the area.

The hosts doubled their advantage seven minutes later after Mbarara City goalkeeper Derrick Emukule fouled Fred Amaku inside the box.

Moses Waiswa calmly converted the resulting penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2–0 before the interval.

Earlier, Derrick Kakoza had threatened to give URA the lead in the 20th minute, but Emukule comfortably gathered his effort.

After play resumed following the rain interruption, Mbarara City pushed for a response and nearly pulled one back late on, but Otti cleared the danger to preserve URA’s comfortable lead.

The win lifts URA to 12th place with 18 points, while Mbarara City remain 14th with 15 points after 18 matches.
