Former champions Kitara Football Club underlined their knockout pedigree with a composed 2–0 victory over Entebbe UPPC to seal a place in the Round of 16 on Tuesday evening.

At Royal Park in Butema, George Ssenkaaba broke the resistance in the 32nd minute, rewarding Kitara’s patience after a tense opening spell.

The visitors had threatened to upset the script, with leading marksman Ambrose Kigozi and new recruit Samuel Nsubuga both going close before the breakthrough.

Kitara tightened their grip after the interval. Tactical changes injected fresh impetus, and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa duly put the contest beyond doubt with 10 minutes remaining, calmly finishing to extinguish Entebbe’s hopes.

The Royals, who lifted the trophy in the 2023–24 campaign, now march on with quiet authority.

Elsewhere, Kampala Capital City Authority FC edged Mbarara City FC 1–0 at MTN Omondi Stadium, captain Filbert Obenchan heading home decisively.

Reigning holders Vipers SC were ruthless, dismantling Pajule Lions 6–0 in Kitende.
With continental qualification at stake, the race for the coveted Confederation Cup slot gathers intensity as the competition narrows.
