In a surprising move, Richard Malinga has rejoined Amus College as head coach, marking his second stint with the Eastern giants.

Malinga, a seasoned coach with a proven track record, previously led Amus College to their maiden FEASSA Games boys football title in 2024, defeating Kitende 1-0 in the final.

During his first tenure, Malinga also guided Amus College to the 2024 USSSA National boys football final, where they lost 3-0 to St. Julian High School – Seeta in Masaka.

His subsequent move to Buddo Secondary School yielded a USSSA National boys football title in 2025, courtesy of a thrilling penalty shootout win over Kitende.

Malinga’s appointment at Amus College comes after a brief stint as Jimmy Kintu Mwera’s deputy at Express FC, where he resigned amidst a tumultuous period for the Red Eagles.

The team had lost key players, including Richard Basangwa and Hakim Wandera to NEC FC, with Mohammed Ssenoga Kaggwa also set to depart.

A former right back for Entebbe Health and KCCA FC, Malinga brings a wealth of experience to Amus College, having previously led Mbale Heroes, KCCA Junior team, and Mawokota Ssaza team.

His return is expected to bolster the team’s Eastern regional league ambitions. Malinga set to oversee both the Eastern regional league and School project at Amus.
