In a bold move, the 2026 Safari Rally has ditched its traditional Nairobi launchpad, opting instead for an exclusive four-day showcase in Naivasha, affectionately known as Hell’s Gate.
This drastic change, driven by stringent FIA WRC sporting regulations, sees the event starting on Thursday, March 12, and culminating on Sunday, March 15, with a thrilling Power Stage.
According to WRC Safari Rally CEO Charles Gacheru, logistical hurdles and the impossibility of squeezing a 300km competitive rally into Nairobi’s constraints led to this decision.
However, all hope isn’t lost for the capital; Nairobi might host future editions, alongside other regions like Nanyuki, Western Kenya, and the coast.
This edition promises to be unforgettable, with 20 special stages spanning 350 competitive kilometers.
Spectators will enjoy unprecedented access to the shakedown stage, a first since WRC return in 2021.
The action-packed schedule starts with Camp Moran and Mzabibu stages, followed by heart-pumping days in the Rift Valley.
