Maroons FC secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Express FC in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Prison Grounds in Luzira on Wednesday.

The Prison Wardens dominated the game, with Raymond Walugembe scoring the opener in the 26th minute, followed by Emmanuel Obua’s brace and Brian Nkumbi’s late strike.

Obua’s first goal came in the 29th minute, after being set up by Ivan Mayanja, and he added a second in the 39th minute, capitalizing on Rogers Kiwanuka’s delivery.

Nkumbi, who had earlier hit the post, sealed the win with a thunderbolt in the 90th minute.

Express, who had been struggling for form, failed to test Maroons’ goalkeeper, Khasim Hafizi, who made a crucial save in the 17th minute to deny Obua.

The defeat sees Express drop to eighth position with 12 points in 11 games, while Maroons jump to seventh with 15 points in 12 games.

The win is a welcome boost for Maroons, who had been inconsistent in their previous outings.

Express, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their performance, and will look to bounce back in their next match.
