The 1994 World Junior Athletics Championships 1500M champion has won two medals, including a gold in the 1500M and a silver in the 800M, showcasing his enduring athletic prowess.

Despite a reduced turnout due to election-related commitments, Acon expressed pride in the team’s resilience and performance.

“Not many of us showed up due to elections, but the few who came performed well although we are very unfit,” he said.

“I personally won the 1500m on Monday, today I was in the 800m and I won silver.

Our women’s team has performed very well. They won both races. We’re likely to finish in position one or two.”

Acon’s impressive track record includes being the first Ugandan to win a gold medal at the World Junior Athletics Championships and representing Uganda at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Games.
