In a pulsating encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, SC Villa edged back onto the league’s pinnacle on goal difference, salvaging a 1‑1 draw with defending champions Vipers SC.

The result snapped Vipers’ flawless start and stretched Villa’s unbeaten streak to six matches.

The match lived up to its billing as second‑half substitute Frank Ssebuufu broke the deadlock for Villa in the 67th minute, converting a pass from Kato Ssemayange.

Vipers answered swiftly; Usama Arafat netted five minutes later, finishing Allan Okello’s craft after sustained pressure.

Tempers flared, culminating in an unusual dismissal for Villa’s Sula Matovu, who collected two bookings off the pitch—one in stoppage time of the first half and another in the 89th minute.

The draw lifted Villa to 17 points from eight games, nudging ahead of KCCA on goal difference, while Vipers slipped to fourth with 13 points, marking their first dropped points of the season.

Maroons vs NEC – A Mid‑Table Battle Ends All Square

Earlier at the Prisons Grounds in Luzira, Maroons and NEC played out a 1‑1 draw.

Substitute Ivan Asaba gave Maroons the lead in the 74th minute after Mujahid Ogama’s assist, only for Marvin Kavuma to equalise two minutes later, calmly finishing Dhata Joseph Stephen Lujang’s delivery.

NEC remain ninth with 10 points, while Maroons sit a spot below on nine, both firmly anchored in mid‑table after matchday eight.

Matchday Nine kicks off on December 2.
