In a surprising turn of events, Calvary FC has announced the departure of head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, just five games into their debut season in the Uganda Premier League.

Kintu’s resignation at the Midigo-based club stems from the team’s struggles on and off the pitch as the reason for his exit.

Kintu, who joined Calvary FC on a two-year contract from St. Noa Girls Zana, had a wealth of experience, having previously coached at Kyetume FC and Uganda Christian University.

He replaced Simon Otim, who led the club to a historic promotion to the top flight last season.

Under Kintu’s tenure, Calvary FC has endured a difficult start to the season, losing four of five games and drawing one.

Their most recent defeat was a 4-2 loss to Entebbe UPPC FC. This was the only team’s home game after playing four away from Midigo.

The club has officially begun the search for Kintu’s replacement, with fans hoping for a turnaround in fortunes in the upcoming games.

Apart from the poor run of results, the club’s financial struggles are also another serious hindrance to performance.

The players and technical team are have gone four months of no pay. This is currently prompting a players’ sit down soon.
