In a dramatic Pepsi University Football League encounter, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) showcased remarkable resilience to snatch a crucial point off Ndejje University in a 1-1 draw at the Arena of Visions in Luwero.

The match was filled with tension and drama, with both teams fighting for survival in the group stages.

Ndejje University had taken the lead in the 85th minute through Joel Olupot, who capitalized on a clever assist from Frank Ssemakula to send the home fans into raptures.

The goal seemed to seal the win for Ndejje, but IUIU refused to give up.

In a stunning turn of events, IUIU mounted a late surge that paid off in the 92nd minute when Emmanuel Shikanga’s corner found captain Robert Twesigye, who headed home the equalizer.

The goal sparked jubilation among the IUIU bench and traveling fans, keeping their quarterfinal dreams alive.

The result leaves Ndejje on five points, tied with Kumi University but second in the group due to having played one more game. IUIU, meanwhile, stays in contention for a last-eight berth with everything to play for in their remaining fixtures.

Group C action resumes today as leaders Kyambogo University host YMCA at their Nakawa grounds, targeting a third straight win to tighten their grip on the top spot.
