After a year-long trophy drought, Standard High School-Zzana (STAHIZA) has bounced back to its glory days, winning this year’s Aggrey Zone boys football qualifiers championship.

The all-time Aggrey Zone champions secured a 1-0 victory against last year’s champions Aidan College in the final, lifting the Zone title.

The winning goal was scored by Benon Lutaaya, who delivered a stunning long-range strike in the 4th minute, sealing STAHIZA’s victory.

This triumph marks their first title since 2023, and it was a testament to the team’s determination and skill.

STAHIZA’s journey to the final was paved with impressive performances, including a 1-0 semi-final victory over Ndejje High School.

Mahad Mutegeki’s long-range strike in the 50th minute proved to be the decisive factor in the semi-finals, giving STAHIZA a hard-fought 1-0 win under the guidance of coach Sulaiman Mutyaba.

Meanwhile, Aidan College emerged victorious over Zana Mixed Secondary School, winning 4-3 via penalties following a goalless draw in normal time in the semi-finals.

In the third-place classification tie, Zana Mixed Secondary School took the third slot for the Zone, defeating Ndejje High School 2-0, with Ibrahim Kazungu scoring a brace.

The Aggrey Zone representatives, STAHIZA, Aidan College, Zana Mixed Secondary School, and Aggrey Memorial, will now proceed to the Wakiso District championship.

The tournament is set to kick off with a players’ screening exercise this Friday, April 4th, and games will commence on Tuesday, April 8th, in Nsangi zone.
