In a significant development, Uganda Crested Cranes defender Aisha Nantongo has embarked on a new chapter in her career, signing with Chinese club Changchun Women FC.

This move marks a fresh start for Nantongo, who had been without a club since parting ways with Egyptian side Masar FC at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Nantongo’s impressive credentials make her a valuable addition to Changchun Women FC.

During her tenure with Masar FC, she played a crucial role in securing a bronze medal in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

Furthermore, her experience playing for notable clubs, including St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana, Kawempe Muslim, Denmark’s Aalborg BK, and Egypt’s Masar FC, has equipped her with the skills and versatility to excel in one of Asia’s most competitive leagues.

Interestingly, Nantongo will be reunited with her former Masar FC teammate, Sandrine Niyonkuru, who has also joined Changchun Women FC.

This familiarity is expected to facilitate a smooth transition for Nantongo, who could make her debut as early as this weekend when Changchun Women FC faces Zhejiang on Sunday in the Chinese Women’s Super League.

Changchun Women FC, founded in 2004, is one of China’s top professional women’s football teams, playing its home matches at the Development Area Stadium.

As a versatile player who excels both as a right-back and a defensive midfielder, Nantongo is poised to make an impact in the Chinese Women’s Super League.
