SC Villa ended their winless run, defeating URA 1-0 in a Uganda Premier League match at the Luzira Prisons Ground on Saturday.

The win marked Villa’s first victory in five matches, bringing an end to a streak of three consecutive 1-1 draws.

Francis Onekalit scored the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a brilliant assist from Tonny Atukunda.

Villa nearly doubled their lead moments later, but Patrick Jonah Kakande squandered the opportunity.

URA’s best chance came in the first half, but Joseph Ssemujju blasted his effort over the bar.

The victory offers a much-needed reprieve for head coach Morley Byekwaso, whose future at the club had come under scrutiny during the team’s poor run of form.

The win sends SC Villa to 20 points, just a point below URA after 14 games.

In the upcoming fixtures, SC Villa will visit Kitara in Hoima on Tuesday, while URA will host Police at Nakivubo on the same day.

Villa’s first-choice striker, Charles Lwanga who’s also their league top scorer, missed the match due to suspension.

Despite this, the team managed to secure a hard-fought victory.

Incident at Full-Time

URA head coach Alex Isabirye was involved in an altercation with a fan at full-time, which required intervention to defuse.
