Kampala Queens delivered a resounding 4-1 victory over Kawempe Muslim at the Valley Grounds on Saturday, December 28, 2024, to secure top position in the Finance Trust Women Super League at the conclusion of the first round.

The highly anticipated match, attended by a sizable crowd, saw Kampala Queens dominate from the outset.

Shamusa Najjuma’s brace, complemented by goals from Asia Nakibuuka and Shamira Nalugya, sealed the win for the visitors.

Shadia Nabirye’s consolation goal for Kawempe Muslim proved insufficient to alter the outcome.

Najjuma opened the scoring in the 12th minute, only for Nabirye to level the game 11 minutes later.

However, Najjuma restored Kampala Queens’ lead with a spectacular shot into the roof of the net.

Nakibuuka then doubled the lead with a remarkable long-range effort, which sailed past Kawempe goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya and Hadijja Babirye’s attempted clearance.

Despite Kawempe’s efforts to mount a comeback, Kampala Queens’ defense and goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro remained resolute, maintaining a 3-1 lead at halftime.

The second half saw Kampala Queens continue to dictate the pace, with Nalugya sealing the win with a precise long-range shot two minutes from time.

The 4-1 victory handed Kawempe Muslim their first loss of the campaign and propelled Kampala Queens to the top of the table with 25 points, one point clear of their opponents.
