On Saturday evening, Vipers SC was held to a 1-1 draw by BUL FC in a thrilling Uganda Premier League encounter played under the floodlights at Kitende.

Allan Okello’s equalizing goal was not enough to secure the vital three points, as the Venoms missed an opportunity to leapfrog to the top of the table.

The visitors took the lead in just four minutes through Pascal Ngobi. Matama set up Ngobi, who unleashed a well-calculated ground shot to beat the goalkeeper and put BUL in the lead.

In the 28th minute, the Venoms equalized through Allan Okello. Gusto Mulongo, who cleverly won a penalty inside the box, was rewarded, and Okello stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way, leveling the scores.

The goal took Okello’s tally to eight goals this season, making him a joint top scorer with Charles Lwanga and Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

BUL FC’s goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa was the hero of the first stanza, making crucial saves to keep the scoreline 1-1.

Vipers came back stronger in the second half, seeking the winning goal, but the visitors were equal to the task, with Joel Mutakubwa denying Milton Karisa at the death of the game to grab a precious point on the road.

At full-time, Vipers was left disappointed after missing a chance to go top of the summit despite fighting for the entire game.

The Venoms are now second on the table with 25 points, one behind NEC FC, while BUL FC occupies the 10th spot with 15 points.

In their next game, BUL FC will host NEC FC this coming Wednesday, December 18th, and two days later, Vipers will visit newcomers Mbale Heroes.

Matchday twelve of the Startimes Uganda Premier League concludes today, Sunday, with one game as struggling Wakiso Giants hosts inconsistent KCCA FC.
